Aston Villa given fresh Coutinho transfer hope amid concerning Cash problem

Aston Villa will already have half an eye on next season as they look to build on their positive recent form.

Villa can now start planning for next season, or at least partially, and the club will already be on the lookout for new signings.

They will have to add to their squad ahead of next season if they want to avoid another bumpy start, and one of their potential new signings already plays for them.

Coutinho latest

Villa continue to be linked with a permanent move for loan midfielder Philippe Coutinho ahead of this summer.

And according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona are determined to get Coutinho off their wage books sooner rather than later.

He adds that Gerrard would ‘love’ to make the move permanent, but it is already clear that Coutinho would need to reduce his wages.

Cash problem

Aston Villa have themselves a Cash problem, with Atletico Madrid said to be searching for a right-back after the departure of Kieran Trippier.

Mundo Deportivo report that Matty Cash has become their most likely option, while Tottenham’s Emerson Royal could be another.

Villa are not likely to allow Cash to leave, but Atleti could well turn his head given their stature and the European opportunities they can offer.
