The latest round of international fixtures are over and Premier League players can now finally take a well-earned break before returning for pre-season training next month.

There will be no breaks for the backroom staff though as clubs across the country work towards strengthening their squads in the summer transfer window. Aston Villa are no different, Unai Emery’s side are preparing to compete domestically and in Europe and are expected to have a busy few months on the transfer front.

However, it looks like one player who they were linked with will not be moving to Villa Park with reports claiming a deal has been struck elsewhere. Meanwhile, a current Villa star has reportedly been given a ‘transfer ultimatium’ with an EFL Championship club ‘poised to pounce’ on the situation. Here are the latest Aston Villa transfer news stories on Wednesday, June 21:

Italian star set for £8.5m move to Qatar despite Arsenal and Aston Villa links

Per a report from HITC, Vitoria Guimaraes star Ibrahima Bamba is closing in on an £8.5 million move to Qatar after being linked with Premier League duo Aston Villa and Arsenal. The initial speculation linking the 21-year old Italian to Villa Park came last month from journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Clubs in England, Germany and France were thought to be amongst those interested in the defensive midfielder and the news he will be heading to the Middle East appears to have surprised many. He is set to join Doha based club Al-Duhail who currently have players on their books such as former Newcastle United defender Federico Fernandez and ex-Portugal international Ruben Semedo.

Aston Villa give ‘transfer ultimatum’ with Championship side ‘poised to pounce’

According to Football League World, who cite reports from Stoke-on-Trent Live, Aston Villa winger Jaden Philogene is set to be moved on. The news is said to have triggered the interest of the 21-year old’s former loan club Stoke City who are ‘poised to pounce’ to bring him back permanently.

Philogene, who has been with Villa since 2018 through their youth academy and senior set up, spent last season on loan at Cardiff City. It is believed that the Villain’s ‘increased transfer pull’ after qualifying for European football has meant the winger is not in Unai Emery’s first team plans.
