Back-to-back wins have seen Steven Gerrard’s men move 12 points clear of the relegation zone, and safety is now well within sight as they move into the back-end of the campaign.
Villa will need to strengthen significantly to avoid being in a similar situation next season, having started the season very poorly.
And as the club’s chiefs scour the market for potential transfer targets, we have taken a look at all the latest Villa rumours:
Villa tracking Phillips
Phillips has impressed for Leeds United over the last two years or so in particular, and has become a key part of the England midfield.
And according to Birmingham Live, Villa are eyeing a potential transfer, with Leeds struggling to keep their place in the division and Marcelo Bielsa recently moving on.
This could be one to watch, certainly.
Targett move to be made permanent
Matt Targett appears to be set to leave the club permanently having spent the last couple of months on loan with Newcastle United.
According to the Chronicle, the Magpies have decided to make the move permanent, and will look to activate the £15million option to buy.
Targett has been at Villa since his 2019 move from Southampton, making 83 league appearances, but looks like he could be at St James’ Park to stay.
