Aston Villa will be able to do some transfer business this summer

Aston Villa boosted their European hopes with their 1-0 win away at AFC Bournemouth. Ollie Watkins scored their goal in the first half against the Cherries. Unai Emery’s men then held on for the win and secured all three points.

Next up is a home clash against Tottenham Hotspur on Friday night as they look to keep their momentum going. The Midlands outfit then head to Old Trafford on the final day. The top five teams get into the Champions League this season.

Aston Villa eye Harvey Elliott move with Wolves

Aston Villa are showing ‘interest’ in Liverpool winger Harvey Elliott, according to CaughtOffside. The report adds that Wolves and Bournemouth are also in the picture for the player valued between £40million and £50million. The England youth international is facing an uncertain future at Anfield this summer and may be sold.

Elliott, 22, has been on the books at Anfield since 2019. Prior to his transfer to the Reds, he rose up through the academy ranks at Fulham. He was initially loaned out to Blackburn Rovers in the Championship to get some valuable first-team experience under his belt.

The England youth international has made 144 appearances for his current club to date and has scored 14 goals, four of which have come in this campaign. If Aston Villa signed him, he woud give them more competition and depth going forward. He would get more game time at Villa Park than he does at Liverpool.

Aston Villa reaction to latest Premier League win

Aston Villa’s victory at Bournemouth was an important one. Jacob Ramsey was sent off for them near the end against the Cherries. The visitors had 33% possession in the game but got the job done in the end.

Speaking afterwards, Emery said: “It’s very good. I’m very happy and proud but we can’t stop now. We have to keep going. We got Europe last week against Fulham at home and today against Bournemouth, teams that are competing very well and performing very well. They were fighting with us as their opponent.

“They were an opponent for us to get Europe. Now we’re in the run in with the teams fighting for Champions League after the way we did last week and the win we did today. We’re deserving to play the next match against Tottenham having the possibilities to be there, taking even more in Europa League or Champions League.”

Emery also hailed Watkins and added: “It’s fantastic and he deserves everything he is achieving. He’s always working for the team, working to help in everything: tactically, defensively and offensively, and he’s also scoring goals like he did today.

“It’s fantastic for him as a man – he’s a very good person. He’s humble, he’s a hard worker and his commitment with Aston Villa is massive. Everything we are doing, we are trying to be ambitious, and he’s always following us strongly in how we want to collectively achieve objectives and, individually, how he can progress and help us.”
