Aston Villa host Everton at Villa Park in the Premier League on Saturday, August 14 at 5.30 pm.

The Villains are hoping that none of their players pick up any injuries for the remaining fixtures during the international break. Leading striker Ollie Watkins was originally called up to represent the Three Lions but was withdrawn before their game against the Republic of Ireland.

Everton are rock bottom of the league after three straight defeats to Brighton, Spurs, and Bournemouth. Here’s the latest injury and team news prior to the international break ending and the manager’s pre-match press conferences.

Aston Villa team news

Ollie Watkins was withdrawn from international duty last week. He was called up to the squad and assessed by England’s medical staff but returned to Villa for further assessment on an ‘ongoing issue’ which wasn’t disclosed.

Boubacar Kamara suffered a significant knee injury in February while playing against Manchester United but is making strides towards a return. Unai Emery was asked in mid-August when Kamara could return, and he admitted that he could return to training next month.

Emi Buendia hasn't yet made an appearance for the first team after he recovered from a knee injury suffered last August. He did score a sublime goal against Fleetwood Town in the EFL Trophy however and will be hoping to get himself back in the first-team fold soon.

Tyrone Mings is another player who had the misfortune of a knee injury. Emery said that hopefully, Mings would begin training with him and the team at the start of September, so he's not yet in contention.

Matty Cash is out for a month with a hamstring injury. Lamare Bogarde was played as a right-back in the win against Leicester City last week.

Diego Carlos and Jaden Philogene were both missing against Leicester City. Carlos is unlikely to play but Philogene could make a return according to Premier Injuries

Leon Bailey could miss the game against Everton and their Champions League opener after suffering a hamstring injury. Emery was quizzed about it at the start of the end of last month but was unsure how long he would be out.

Out: Boubacar Kamara, Tyrone Mings, Diego Carlos, Matty Cash, and Leon Bailey. Doubt: Ollie Watkins, Jaden Philogene.

Everton team news

Albanian striker Armando Broja for a large part of the summer looked to be headed to Ipswich Town, but he instead joined Everton on deadline day. Broja won't be making his debut at Villa Park as he has an Achilles issue, which will keep him out until October.

Youssef Chermiti had a 'minor' operation and that has put him out of action for a couple of weeks. A return to action in September is when the 20-year-old could return.

Nathan Patterson underwent surgery on his hamstring four months ago and is a long-term absentee. The 22-year-old was forced to miss EURO 2024 because of the injury suffered in April.

Centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite was forced to undergo surgery on his groin and hasn't played a minute of football this season. He could return to full training this week, however, but Saturday may come too soon.

Seamus Coleman was forced off for the Republic of Ireland during their 2-0 defeat to England. It appears that Coleman suffered an ankle injury and he had to hobble off.

Stanley Mills remains sidelined after suffering a knee injury whilst out on loan at Oxford United.

Out: Armando Broja, Youssef Chermiti, Nathan Patterson, Stanley Mills. Doubt: Seamus Coleman, and Jarrad Branthwaite
