Aston Villa are looking to finalise their transfer business with deadline day just around the corner.

Time is running out for clubs in the Premier League to finish up with their transfer dealings - and it is no different at Aston Villa. With less than 48 hours to go before the transfer window slams shut, can the Villans get any late moves over the line.

Villa are rumoured to have agreed a deal to snap up an adaptable defender who currently plays for Feyenoord in the Eredivisie. The deal is still in its infancy - Unai Emery and his backroom staff will need to work quickly if they do not want to fall foul of the time limit imposed upon them.

In the meantime, the Villans have sent one of their wingers out on loan to a team in La Liga. They signed him just a couple of months ago - he is still thought to be a major part of Emery’s long term plans at Villa Park.

Aston Villa agree deal ‘in principle’ to sign Lutsharel Geertruida from Feyenoord

Villa could soon announce the signing of Feyenoord defender Lutsharel Geertruida - they have agreed a deal ‘in principle’ with the Dutch giants and will pay a fee of £35 million if the transfer becomes official.

This is according to a recent report from HITC. Not only have they reached an agreement with Feyenoord, they are also believed to have agreed on personal terms with Geertruida and his agent. He is capable of occupying multiple roles on the pitch - while he is best suited to playing at centre back, he is also comfortable being deployed as a defensive midfielder or as a right back.

Last season, Geertruida made 49 appearances in all competitions for Feyenoord, scoring nine goals and racking up five assists. At the age of 24, his best years are still well ahead of him.

Villa send Enzo Barrenechea out on loan to Valencia

Villa aren’t just looking to bring players in at this stage of the transfer window - there is also set to be an outgoing at Villa Park. The club have agreed a deal with Valencia to send Enzo Barrenechea, who was only signed by the club this summer, out on loan.

While Barrenechea may not play a role for the Villans this season, he is still believed to be a ‘key part’ of their plans moving forwards. As such, there is no option to buy clause included in his loan contract at Valencia. Despite this, it is unclear if the deal will see him move to La Liga for the duration of the 2024/25 season or just until January. This will be made clear upon an official announcement.

While some Villa fans may be disappointed to see him go out on loan, they have plenty of players in his position - including Morgan Rogers, Jaden Philogene and Leon Bailey.

This is according to a post on X (formerly Twitter) from journalist Fabrizio Romano, who wrote: “Enzo Barrenechea to Valencia on loan from Aston Villa, done and confirmed. Here we go. NO buy option clause as key part of future AVFC plans.”
