It gets no easier this weekend, when Villa face Midlands rivals Leicester City away from home, but the Lions will be desperate to avoid making it five defeats on the bounce.

As the build up to that trip to the King Power Stadium continues, we have rounded up all the latest transfer news.

Coutinho latest

Villa have been backed to complete a permanent move for Philippe Coutinho this summer.

The Midlands club have an option to buy in the Brazilian’s loan deal worth around £34million, though there has been talk of interest from elsewhere.

According to journalist Dean Jones, Villa remain favourites to pull off a deal despite that rival interest.

He told GiveMeSport: “I think it’s important to understand that Coutinho is loyal to Gerrard and, at this point, Villa are very much in the driving seat to sign him.”

Eriksen interest

Villa are said to have entered the race to sign Christian Eriksen this summer.

Eriksen has impressed since making his comeback with Brentford, and he is out of contract this summer.

Brentford are hoping to keep hold of the Dane, but there is plenty of interest from other Premier League clubs.

According to 90min, Villa are one of those clubs, with Gerrard hoping to add further quality to his midfield this summer.
