Aston Villa, Everton and Newcastle United 'under pressure' amid talk of Premier League punishment

Aston Villa, along with their five Premier League rivals, could be forced to sell players this month.
Sky Sports News are reporting that Villa, plus Chelsea, Newcastle United, Everton, Nottingham Forest and Leicester City, may need to sell assets to comply with profit and sustainability rules. The broadcaster adds they are 'under the pressure' of losing a 'key asset or two' before the changeover in to the new financial year.

Clubs can begin to sign players when the transfer window officially opens on Friday, June 14, which is start date of EURO 2024.
The news comes after Aston Villa, along with Newcastle and Chelsea, showed sympathy for Manchester City after they launched a legal case against the Premier League. Villa co-owner, Nassef Sawiris is close to City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak and shared a frustration on the limitations placed on clubs in regards to how much they can spend on players.
Should Villa be unable to sell a player by the headline they could risk facing a penalty by the Premier League. Everton and Nottingham Forest were both dealt points deductions for breaching the rules. Earlier this month it was reported that Villa were open to selling Douglas Luiz as well as Jacob Ramsey and Jhon Duran. Luiz is subject of interest from Serie A giants Juventus, while Duran is wanted by Chelsea.
