Aston Villa 'will listen' to offers for defender as Wolves 'eye up' youngster

Euro 2024 is reaching its crescendo, as the quarter finals roll along - and so is the summer transfer window. As England prepare to take on a dangerous Switzerland outfit on Saturday, July 6, what is happening back home around Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers?
Aston Villa will reportedly ‘listen’ to offers put forth for one of their defenders in the summer - he is thought to be one of the highest earners at the club, though his playing time and performances do not justify his large wage bill.

Aston Villa ‘will listen’ to offers for Diego Carlos in the summer
Aston Villa will ‘listen’ to offers for one of their defenders, Diego Carlos, over the course of the summer transfer window. He is thought to be one of the highest earning players at the club, but he is not one of their best performers.
This is according to a report from Birmingham Live. Last season, Diego Carlos made 27 appearances in the Premier League, failing to score a goal or register an assist. He is Villa’s third choice centre-back at the moment, behind Pau Torres and Ezri Konsa - when Tyrone Mings returns from his ACL injury, his status at Villa Park could fall even further.
Moreover, Villa have a surplus of centre-backs - apart from the players we have already mentioned, they also have Calum Chambers and Kortney Hause on their books. As such, given Diego Carlos’ reported high wages, it makes sense to allow the 31-year-old to move on in the coming weeks. He has two years left on his deal at Villa - it is unclear how much money the Villans will require him to leave the club.

Wolves ‘eye up’ young Brazilian Victor Hugo
Wolves are looking to make another splash in the transfer window. They have been linked with a move for 20-year-old Flamengo winger Victor Hugo, according to a recent report from Molineux News.
A promising attacking midfielder, Gary O’Neil likely has the future in mind with this one. A Brazilian U20s player, the sky appears to be the limit for this young man. An adaptable player, he can play as a central midfielder and as a defensive midfielder - though he is most comfortable in the number ten role.
Additionally, he already has plenty of first team football under his belt, having made over 100 first-team appearances for Flamengo since he signed a senior deal with the club back in 2022.

A report from Bolavip suggests that Wolves will need to part ways with around £14 million to secure his signature - Flamengo are also keen for a sell-on clause to be included in the deal.
