Aston Villa are now in Dubai as they ramp up preparations for the return of Premier League football.

Unai Emery and his men are hoping to pick up where they left off after the break after enjoying a mini resurgance following the arrival of the Spanish boss. Villa have managed to put some distance between themselves and the drop zone after a poor star, but significant improvement is needed if they are to become a top half team.

The January window could help, though, and here we round up all the latest transfer news and rumours surrounding Villa Park.

Abraham links

Villa know how much they will have to pay to land reported target Tammy Abraham.

Recent reports have claimed Villa could go after the AS Roma and England striker, who has been impressing in Serie A. Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins remain the key strikers at Villa Park, but Abraham could help take the Lions to the next level.

It had been claimed that Abraham would cost a silly amount of money, but Tuttomercato are now saying there could be a deal to be done for around £43million, which could peak Villa’s interest ahead of the January transfer window.

Thuram ‘bargain’

Another forward option is Borussia Monchengladback and France frontman Marcus Thuram.

There are claims that Thuram might cost around £10million or even less, and transfer insider Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport: “That would be a proper bargain if they could get that one done.

“I think a lot of it will depend on what other clubs show interest here because he’s being offered around to some bigger clubs than Aston Villa.”

Thuram is currently at the World Cup with France. He was originally selected as a back-up, but he was brought in after Karim Benzema’s exit through injury.
