Aston Villa are looking likely to rotate their starting lineup for Thursday’s UEFA Europa Conference League clash away at HSK Zrinjski but Unai Emery faces some limitations.
There are four or five players who could miss out due to fitness and injury problems, while the Premier League game at Brentford comes very quickly after.
One eye will have to be on that fixture due to its importance but the chance to top Group E is still there — so Emery won’t rotate too heavily. Here are the latest team news updates ahead of Thursday.
1. Emiliano Buendia - out
Buendia suffered a season-ending knee injury before the campaign even began.
2. Tyrone Mings - out
Mings is in a similar position to Buendia after sustaining a serious knee injury in August.
3. Bertrand Traore - out
Traore came back from the November international break with an injury and there hasn’t been a promising update since. He won’t be available for Thursday.
4. Leon Bailey - doubt
The Jamaican has been in top form recently — even keeping Moussa Diaby out of the team — but he picked up a knock during the 1-0 win over Arsenal. Bailey faces a late fitness test.
