Aston Villa have announced Aaron Danks will be leaving the first-team setup as his time as interim head coach comes to an end. With Unai Emery set to take charge from Tuesday (November 1), the decision has been made for Danks to part ways with the senior squad.

The club announced Danks is now considering his options, with a potential new role within the club a possibility. Long-serving goalkeeper coach Neil Cutler has also departed Villa Park. In a statement, the club said: “We would like to thank Neil for all his hard work throughout his four years with Aston Villa and wish him all the very best in his future career.”

Meanwhile, Austin MacPhee will remain as part of the first-team coaching staff as the Emery era gets underway. The decisions have been called just two days after the Villans suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat to Newcastle United at St James’ Park. Emery’s first game will be at home to Manchester United on Sunday, November 6.
