Wright on Villa's chances

Ian Wright has raised a concern over Villa's Champions League chase. “Can they [United] put a run together? I don’t know. What we saw in the FA Cup [against Liverpool] was unbelievable from their point of view," he told Premier League Productions.

Manchester United now have to find some form to see if they can catch Villa. nine points behind Villa? It’s a lot. It’s a Villa side, even if they are in the Conference [League] as well, Unai Emery would want to be putting his best teams out in the Conference. Yes, they have got some injuries and you feel that Villa are maybe the ones, at this stage, it might be the pressure, if you can put them under pressure. You might be able to catch them, but I don’t know if Man United and Tottenham are good enough to put a run together to do that.”

Ferguson 'interest'

Aston Villa are said to be interested in a deal to sign Bologna star Lewis Ferguson this summer. According to GiveMeSport, Villa are one of a number of clubs interested in the Scotland international.

The report claims Ferguson may need convincing to leave Italy for England, but an uncertain managerial situation at his current club could make a transfer more likely. Current boss Thiago Motta has been linked with the Juventus job. Ferguson has racked up 58 league appearances for his current club since 2022, scoring 13 times from midfield.
