A first Aston Villa offer has been received by Chelsea as both Premier League teams seek to wrap up an important transfer.

Aston Villa have submitted their first official bid to sign Chelsea defender Axel Disasi on a six-month loan deal.

Unai Emery is prioritising signing a new central defender before the end of the transfer window following Diego Carlos’ £8 million departure to Fenerbahce and the injuries sustained by Pau Torres and Tyrone Mings. Out-of-sorts Chelsea man Disasi is the number one target.

Disasi, signed from AS Monaco for £38.5 million in 2023, has seen his minutes restricted since the arrival of Enzo Maresca, who has given the 26-year-old just four Premier League starts so far. Pace isn’t Disasi’s strong point but the Frenchman is mightily strong and often dominates in the air.

Transfer news specialist Fabrizio Romano reports the Villans have proposed a temporary move with a fee included, as well as full salary cover. The Blues are currently weighing up their options but Disasi has already fully agreed on personal terms.

Unai Emery spoke to the central defender on Monday (January 27) to discuss the possibility of making the switch to Villa Park. Disasi was very excited by the prospect and he’s had his heart set on this transfer ever since, even without an option to buy being included.

Villa weigh up Disasi alternative

If a move for Disasi falls through, RC Lens star Kevin Danso is being considered. Wolverhampton Wanderers are in advanced talks to sign Danso and have already seen two bids rejected but Villa could swoop in late to perform a hijack, with Lens seeking £25 million.

Predominantly a centre-back but also capable of filling in at right-back or defensive midfield if required, Danso stands at 6ft 2in. The 26-year-old isn’t the most agile but he’s rapid once he gets up to speed and he wins the majority of his aerial duels. Danso also loves a crunching tackle.
