New boss Emery was reportedly watching from the stands at a Spanish third tier game between Intercity and Real Union over the weekend. The former Sevilla and Villarreal manager has taken the opportunity to head home whilst the tournament in Qatar starts. As per EFE (via Inside Futbol), he was casting his eyes over some Primera Division Grupo 2 action.

Winger linked with exit

Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey is being linked with a surprise move to Chelsea. The ex-Bayer Leverkusen man is ‘under consideration’ by Graham Potter’s side, according to the Daily Mail. He struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League last term but has started to show what he can do in this campaign, chipping in with three goals.

La Liga ace on radar

The same Daily Mail report also suggests Villa are ‘assessing’ Nicolas Jackson’s situation at Villarreal. The highly-rated winger, who is 21-years-old, is a player who Emery knows well and is being tipped for a bright future in the game. His contract expires at the end of this term and he is currently due to become a free agent at the end of June 2023.
