Aston Villa have already given their verdict on signing 27-goal Man Utd transfer target

Aston Villa are reportedly ‘ready’ to take action on their interest in former promotion hero Tammy Abraham, but the verdict of supporters is mixed. Having spent time at Villa Park with a very successful loan spell in 2018-19, Abraham had already established himself as a fan favourite but plenty has happened since.
Scoring 26 goals in 40 Championship appearances for Villa, Abraham helped the club to promotion as the second-highest scorer in the entire division. Not only was he named as part of the PFA Team of the Year, but he was the first player since Andy Gray (in 1977) to score 25 goals for the Villans in a single season.

Now at AS Roma, the 25-year-old has had two contrasting seasons under Jose Mourinho. The first was brilliant - with 27 goals in all competitions - but this campaign has seen Abraham hit the net just seven times.
Despite this, Villa remain interested in the former Chelsea attacker with Roma open to a sale, according to 90min. The English publication reports Roma are “ready to discuss selling Abraham this summer”, however, it would likely take a fee of around £40 million to pry the ex-England international away from the Italian capital. Villa are not too bothered by that price tag.

This is even the case despite the signing of Jhon Duran in January and the vastly improved form of Ollie Watkins, who has scored in four consecutive Premier League appearances. Reacting to the thought of signing Abraham, fans took to social media with varied opinions.
@AvfcSims said: “No better than Watkins. Absolutely no improvement whatsoever.”

@OllieWatton3 requested: “Bring me Tammy.”

@antzhumbleent noted: ”Very ambitious move and the lure of playing under Emery is a tempting one. However, I’m sure Abraham is hungry for #UCL football.”
If the Lions were to make a summer move for Abraham they would likely face competition from Premier League rivals Manchester United, as they too are interested in signing the striker. Erik ten Hag is said to be exploring long-term options to replace Cristiano Ronaldo, who departed Old Trafford in November of last year.
