The North London club are just one point and one place above Unai Emery's Villains in the table ahead of what is expected to be a closely fought fixture. Meanwhile, there are plenty of transfer news stories still making headlines as the January transfer window slowly approaches.

The pundits have been weighing in this weekend on Villa's possibly January transfer business with one former player suggesting a move for a current Man City star is 'unlikely' despite recent rumours. Another former England man has tipped a current Villa player to be an 'excellent signing' for Arsenal if the Gunners make a move. Here are the latest Aston Villa transfer news stories on Saturday, November 25:

Arsenal could make 'brilliant signing' from Aston Villa

Speaking to Football Insider, former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson says that Arsenal would find it 'very tough' to land Douglas Luiz this January. However, the ex Leeds and Tottenham stopper does think the Brazilian would be an 'excellent signing' for the Gunners.

He said: "I think he will be a very tough one to get out of Aston Villa. With the way they’re going and the direction Unai Emery is taking the club, they’re European contenders again this season.

“Whether they can compete on both fronts is yet to be seen. He’ll be a brilliant signing and make an excellent addition to the Arsenal squad. The left-hand side of the midfield is an area where they’ve played Kai Havertz – it’s maybe an area of potential strengthening that they could potentially look at."

Aston Villa 'unlikely' to move for Man City star despite rumours

Former Aston Villa forward Stan Collymore believes that Unai Emery is unlikely to want to re-sign Jack Grealish. The ex Liverpool man was speaking to CaughtOffside.

He said: "I really like Grealish – he’s a top player and an even nicer human being but as a Villa fan would I take him back? – No, I don’t think I would. I don’t think Emery would embrace Grealish coming back.

"He did exceptionally well during his time there and most fans will always be thankful, but the club has moved on since then. We’re in a different position with different goals and I just think digging up the past rarely proves beneficial.”
