Aston Villa have 10 players on duty with their respective countries this week as the end-of-March international break puts a pause on Premier League action until the start of April.
From young goalkeepers to experienced midfielders and a wonderkid striker, plenty of Unai Emery’s squad will be jetting off across the world.
It’s been an impressive few months under the new manager back at home but it’s now time for a switch of mindset as the pressure of nations rest upon the shoulders of Villans.
With so many squad announcements made by countries, it’s rather difficult to keep tabs on who has been selected by who, so we’ve rounded it all up for you.
Starting from the goalkeepers to the forwards, here are the 10 Villa players on international duty, as well as which opponents they will take on and when.
1. Emiliano Martinez
Called up to the Argentina squad as the first-choice goalkeeper. The World Cup champions are set to take on Panama and Curaçao in two friendly matches – one on Thursday, March 23 and the other on Tuesday, March 28.
2. Robin Olsen
Another goalkeeper selected for the internationals; Olsen is in the Sweden squad for two UEFA EURO qualifiers. The first is against Belgium on Friday, March 24 and the second is against Azerbaijan on Monday, March 27.
3. Viljami Sinisalo
Yet another man between the sticks, Sinisalo has been handed the chance to play for Finland. Both fixtures are UEFA Euro qualifiers – the first away at Denmark on Thursday, March 23 and the second away at Northern Ireland on Sunday, March 26.
4. Matty Cash
Joins up with Robert Lewandowski and the rest of the Poland squad to play against the Czech Republic on Friday, March 24 and Albania on Monday, March 27. Both games are UEFA EURO qualifiers.
