Aston Villa’s Philippe Coutinho and wife Aine, married 11 years, might be looking forward to new adventure

When Brazillian footballer Phillipe Countinho joined Aston Villa last year, his wife of 11 years and their children also moved with him to the West Midlands.

Phillipe and Ainê’s relationship has been hailed as the Nou Camp’s “great love story”. They have been together for the footballer’s every career move. From Brazil to the UK to Spain to Aston Villa. And, maybe further ahead too if Coutinho leaves the football club.

The couple share snippets of their adorable life together on social media. In the latest post, Ainê shared how her son - Jose - likes to intervene whenever she and Phillipe dance together or hug.

She wrote: “Anyone else with a jealous son?!” The 30-year-olds are parents to three adorable children - Esmeralda, Maria and Jose - and have been married since 2012. But, their love story goes further back.

How did Phillipe Coutinho and his wife meet?

The married couple met as teenagers in Rio De Janeiro when Phillipe was 14. Their relationship turned serious early on in their life.

They met at a party through mutual friends and eventually ended up living together in the same house as Phillipe’s parents, Esmerelda and Jose, according to the Sun.

She would travel with him to watch each of his matches and when he went to Italy in 2010, it is believed that she went with him. They reportedly had a long distance relationship when he was on loan to Espanyol but that soon ended with them tying the knot.

The couple got married in Milan in 2012 and have not lived apart since then. She followed when he signed for Liverpool in 2013 and they moved to West Midlands together when he signed for Aston Villa.

The couple have welcomed three children. Their first daughter, Maria Coutinho, was born in 2015, their second daughter in 2018 and their son in 2020.

What Phillipe said about his wife

Philippe has said of his wife: “Aine plays a huge part in everything I do. We didn’t study together, we didn’t really have mutual friends, except for one, who had a party and we both went to it. We met there and sat together for a long time just talking.

“She asked me to be her boyfriend. There wasn’t really a moment where we were like, ‘OK we are together now.’ We’re from the same neighbourhood and so we just started seeing more and more of each other, going places together and it grew deeper and stronger.”

The doting husband and dad now dedicates all his goals to his wife. Whether Coutinho leaves or stays in Aston Villa, his loving wife and kids will follow.
