Round Two of the 2023/24 Premier League season kicked off last night with Nottingham Forest picking up a 2-1 win at home to newly promoted Sheffield United.

The action comes thick and fast today with Wolves in action in front of a Molineux crowd for the first time this campaign as they host Brighton & Hove Albion. Meanwhile, Aston Villa host Everton at Villa Park tomorrow in what will also be a first home match of the new season for Unai Emery’s men.

Aston Villa ‘negotiating fee’ for ‘marquee signing’

Per a report from Football Insider, Aston Villa are continuing talks on Saturday over a deal to sign Sevilla left-back Marcos Acuna. Unai Emery’s side have already agreed personal terms with Acuna and are now said to be negotiating a fee with the Spanish club.

The Argentina international was previously signed by new Villa sporting director Monchi when he was at Sevilla in 2020. A new left back is thought to be a priority for the Villains and it is claimed that they are close to sealing a breakthrough to get a deal over the finish line.

Celtic boss questioned on Podence links

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has been asked about transfer speculation in a recent press conference. Wolves’ winger Daniel Podence and Newcastle United’s Ryan Fraser are two names who have been linked with a move to the Scottish champions in the recent weeks.

The former Liverpool boss was questioned on links to both Fraser and Podence and gave the same answer to both questions. When asked if there was ‘information’ on the two reported targets he said: “None at all.”
