Aston Villa are one of several clubs interested in signing Crysenico Summerville from Leeds United according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano. It's less than a week until the January transfer window opens, and the Villains could look to the Championship for one of their next signings.

In a post published on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, transfer guru Romano said: "Understand several clubs including Aston Villa keep tracking him... Leeds have no intention to sell him in January as he’s key player. Burnley had £20m bid turned down by #LUFC in August."

The 22-year-old has 11 goals and six assists in 22 games for the Whites this season, and has helped the Yorkshire outfit in their pursuit of promotion. Summerville was subject of a £20m offer from newly promoted Burnley in the summer, and both Crystal Palace and Everton are said to be admirers, but Leeds have 'no intention' of selling him which would make them tricky negotiators for any potential deal.

In other news, former Aston Villa striker Scott Hogan has been talk of a potential move away from inter-city rivals Birmingham City. Hogan made the direct move from Villa to Birmingham in 2020, and spent three years as a player at Villa Park, though he did have loan spells at Sheffield United and Stoke City. The 31-year-old was not in Blues match-day squad as they lost 3-1 at home to Stoke, and that sparked talk of a potential move away from the Second City.

Manager Wayne Rooney played down the rumours and said to BirminghamLive: "“That was purely a decision I made,” said Rooney. “We had Keshi (Anderson) and Tyler Roberts back in the squad. Young Josh has done well in the under-21s and purely for the balance of the squad, I made the decision to leave Scott out and bring Josh in.”

“I’m not going to sit here and say that’s a decision which is made,” added the Blues boss. “I made the decision for today’s game on Scott. If you look at the bench, we had a lot of attacking players and very few defenders or midfield players. I was trying to keep the balance of the squad right."
