An attacker likened to Angel Di Maria could be on his way to Aston Villa, Celtic or Rangers.

FC Midtjylland winger Dario Osorio is reportedly a transfer target for Villa ahead of the January window.

The 13-time Chile international has been scouted by a host of Premier League clubs since making the move from his home nation to Denmark. Osorio has already racked up 40 appearances for Midtjylland, contributing 11 goals and three assists – similar to his 11 goals in 51 matches for Universidad de Chile.

TBR Football reports Premier League clubs Villa, Brentford, Brighton, Crystal Palace, Newcastle and Wolves have all been tracking Osorio’s progress at Midtjylland. Celtic and Rangers are also said to have great admiration for the 20-year-old, while clubs in France and Spain are showing interest from afar.

Osorio, predominantly a right winger but also comfortable playing off the left or as an attacking midfielder, was dubbed the next Angel Di Maria a couple of years ago. Jacek Kulig from Football Talent Scout described Osorio as a ‘flamboyant winger’ with great pace, dribbling skills, ball control, creativity, first touch and versatility.

Given a potential rating of 8/10, Osorio was directly compared to Di Maria. If he can get to anywhere close to the level of the former Real Madrid, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain star, he will have done well for himself.

No asking price has been mentioned for Osorio but the Chilean is contracted to Midtjylland until June 2028. As the Danish club are under no pressure to sell, any potential suitor will have to table a substantial enough offer to tempt.
