Lehmann also showed off her toned abs and her navel piercing in the post, which has gained 1,440,490 likes in seven days. She posted another photo from an outing almost a week after her team’s defeat.

When Switzerland was still in the tournament, she posted photos only from her training showing how dedicated she was to the game. During the time, her social media following also grew to 14.7m and she became the most followed player in the Women’s World Cup. However, there’s more to her than an incredible social media platform.

The striker recently told The Times: “A lot of people only see the social side [of my life, via Instagram] and not actually how I play football. About this, I’m sometimes disappointed because I work hard every day. I train every day and I want to be the best player I can be. They don’t really know how I play. I’m always saying, ‘Watch a game please’ — and then they’re surprised.”

She told Sky Sports about her life before she became a big star. She said: “I grew up in a country village in Switzerland,” she tells Sky Sports thinking back to her time living in the outskirts of Bern. “When I go home, we still have a lot of animals - horses and dogs. Everything was so different.

“We just played street football all day. When a car came, we shouted: ‘Car! Move!’ It was so normal. Now it’s a bit different! This makes me so humble because I can always think about this moment. There is a difference now, I live in a big city. But I never forget it.”
