A total of 41 Premier League players are jetting off on international duty for either the Africa Cup of Nations or the Asia Cup.

The Premier League has come to a brief pause as all 20 clubs enjoy some respite following an exceptionally busy festive schedule. Games game thick and fast throughout December, seeing some teams playing every three or four days on average.

Now, though, all the English top-flight sides will play just two or three league fixtures each during January. The FA Cup third round will also be played but the likelihood is most teams will field heavily rotated teams, providing fringe players game time.

The reduction in matches has come at a good time for plenty of clubs as a whole host of players will be leaving for international duty. The Africa Cup of Nations and the Asia Cup are scheduled to take place between 13 January to 11 February and 12 January to 10 February respectively.

West Midlands sides Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers have players who have been selected for their nations, bringing contrasting impacts to their squads. Other teams have had no personnel taken away, whereas some have had numerous.
