Aston Villa complete £47million winger signing
A hectic summer at Villa Park is drawing to a close.
Villa have completed the signing of winger Ibrahim Mbaye from Paris Saint-Germain in a £47million deal.
The 18-year-old Senegal international has become the club’s ninth signing of the transfer window, after agreeing a five-year contract with the option of a further year.
He will be joined later on deadline day by defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis, who is on the verge of completing a move from Southampton.
Both players were in attendance at Villa Park on Monday night to watch Unai Emery’s team lose 1-0 to Premier League champions Arsenal.
Mbaye, the second winger to sign for Villa this summer after Chelsea loanee Alejandro Garnacho, had been a long-time target with boss Emery keen to add pace to wide areas.
He and Harwood-Bellis are expected to be the final signings of what has been an extremely busy transfer window, which has seen the club sell several high-profile players including Ezri Konsa, Ollie Watkins, Morgan Rogers and Emi Martinez.
Speaking on Monday night, Emery said: "I am not expecting more (signings).
“This year, I think everything we were preparing for the changes we did. I think we replaced the players as we planned."
