Sainsbury’s launches huge BBQ savings event for World Cup quarter-final gatherings

With World Cup fever well and truly underway, and the quarter finals looming, Sainsbury’s has launched a fresh round of BBQ savings to help people enjoy the football al fresco.

The supermarket is highlighting savings across its “BBQ essentials” range, with 35 products listed across meat, buns, cheese, sauces, salads and sides.

The deals include a mixture of standard offers and Nectar Prices, meaning shoppers with a Nectar card can unlock some of the strongest savings.

Sainsbury’s has cut prices across the kind of food people tend to choose for indulging in a spot of football fever, at the same time as firing up the grill.

Among the meat deals, Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference British Pork Chipolata sausages and Taste the Difference British Pork Sausages are both included in a “buy any 2 for £5” Nectar offer. There's a similar deal on the Taste the Difference Pork & Apple Sausages, and Lincolnshire British Pork Sausages, giving shoppers a simple way to mix and match for the barbecue.

Steak fans are not left out either. Sainsbury’s 30 Days Matured British Beef Sirloin Steak is showing at £6.50 with Nectar, down from £7.75, while the Taste the Difference 30 Days Matured British Beef Rump Steak is £5.50 with Nectar, reduced from £6.75. The Ribeye Steak is also reduced to £9.25 from £10.25 for Nectar customers.

There are burger-friendly offers too, including Sainsbury’s 2 Dry Aged Aberdeen Angus Beef Burgers at £4 with Nectar, down from £4.50. The Taste the Difference Beef Steak & Vintage Cheddar Burgers are also showing at £4 with Nectar, reduced from £4.50.

Chicken and pork options add more variety for shoppers trying to build a wider spread. Sainsbury’s Sweet Chilli Chicken Thighs are £4 with Nectar, down from £4.50, while the Cajun British Chicken Breast Grills are £3.75 from £4.25. The Chinese Style Pork Loin Steaks offer one of the clearer savings, cut to £3 with Nectar from £4.50.

For anyone feeding a bigger group, the 10 British Pork Shoulder Steaks pack is reduced to £7 with Nectar from £10.50.

The supermarket has also included the classic extras that make a barbecue feel properly stocked. St Pierre Seeded Brioche Burger Buns are reduced to £2 from £2.90, while Sainsbury’s Large Soft White Rolls and Taste the Difference Large Soft Multiseed Rolls are both in a “buy any 2 for £1.80” Nectar offer.

Cheese and toppings feature heavily, too. Sainsbury’s Extra Mature Cornish Cheddar Cheese Melts are £2 with Nectar, down from £2.50, while the Sriracha Burger Cheese Melts and Blue Stilton Cheese Melts are also priced at £2 with Nectar. Sainsbury’s Cypriot Halloumi, Taste the Difference, is reduced to £3 with Nectar from £4.

Sauces are another easy place to save. Heinz Top Down Ketchup is £2.40 with Nectar, down from £3, while Bull’s-Eye Original BBQ Sauce is reduced to £2 with Nectar from £3. Sainsbury’s Ultimate Burger Sauce is £1.65 with Nectar, down from £2, and BrewDog Punk IPA BBQ Sauce is £1.95 from £2.50.

With World Cup matches giving people a reason to gather around the TV and the barbecue, the range is aimed squarely at shoppers who want to make the food feel like part of the occasion without overspending.

The best value will depend on what is already in the kitchen, how many people are coming round, and whether shoppers can access the Nectar Prices.
