West Midlands tourism: 12 of the best places to visit in Birmingham, Solihull and Sutton Coldfield

The West Midlands Tourism Awards shortlist has been announced featuring these brilliant destinations in Birmingham, Soluhull and Sutton Coldfield

The venues vying for prizes at the 2022 West Midlands Tourism Awards have been announced, with 36 of the region’s visitor-facing businesses shortlisted to compete in 13 categories.

Every year companies from across the West Midlands’ accommodation, arts, food and drink, visitor attraction and heritage sectors go head-to-head for awards including Large Hotel of the Year, Taste of the West Midlands and Experience of the Year.

Twelve local businesses in Birmingham, Solihull and Sandell are among the 36 finalists across the whole of the West Midlands region that have managed to make the shortlist.

There’s a high chance one of your favourite destinations may be bringing home a prize.

This year, in recognition of a turbulent two years the tourism industry has faced, the organisation has launched a new category. So, 2022 will be the first time the West Midlands’ Awards will give out the Resilience and Innovation Award.

The award will honour a West Midlands organisation, which has shown particular flexibility and dexterity, as well as support for their local communities, during the coronavirus pandemic.

Becky Frall, Head of Visitor Attraction at the West Midlands Growth Company, said: “Some categories, including our new Resilience and Innovation Award, were particularly competitive, so we congratulate those businesses who have made it through to the finals as we come together to recognise the shining stars of our tourism scene.”
