Birmingham is a city on the up and up - and according to a study last year, we have the most photogenic skyline in the UK. Over at Orelle on Colmore Row, that is exactly what sets the scene, offering an unrivalled perspective of Brum from above, and I’m here to experience that unique panoramic view of the city.

According to a study by TonerGiant last year, Birmingham was found to have the most photogenic skyline of any city in the UK based on the average number of likes on Instagram.

And what better way to embrace the unique charm of Brum from above that somewhere like this, which offers a 360 panoramic view of the city - a perspective perhaps unrivalled by anywhere else.

Recent years have seen the city expand in all sorts of ways, with construction projects almost adorning the views, a reminder of the endless progress and development that has begun to define the heart of England - glimpses into a bustling city full of life.

Leandro Conti, Assistant Manager at Orelle says: “I think that you can see the entire city from here and obviously iconic sites that you can see. You can see the library, the Bullring, the Mailbox, the Council.

“You can see much of Edgbaston or the BT Tower, literally, you can see everything. Also one of the first things that you see when you come in through the lift and the main reception is that all the central area of the Bullring and the Rotunda building.

“When you see the reaction of the guests as they take in the views you see there’s a very strong interest in the views and they are very surprised. Especially if you get down on a beautiful day like today, which is nice and sunny, you know, it’s breathtaking.”

“Now, I moved here from London five months ago. I see there’s a big difference than obviously London and Birmingham - in a good way, I have to say. People here - I remember obviously when we arrived and when we first opened the restaurant in October, the way our people greeted us and welcomed us to the city was unbelievable. Unbelievable.

“Everyone is so welcoming and nice. Obviously you don’t see that much in London I will say - obviously the big city, London you just run every day - but here people are so relaxed and love to enjoy their time - especially here with us.

“We are kind of a part of their enjoyment and make you feel that, which is fantastic. I didn’t expect to imagine - especially when I came. It’s smaller city but it’s actually incredible.”
