It’s a tricky task finding the perfect village that combines that chocolate-box vibe with all your needs in easy reach - and let’s be honest - for most of us the UK’s poshest villages will probably be just on the day trip list.
But according to The Telegraph, Britain has 48 very posh villages and there’s one in the West Midlands that really stands out.
Based on research carried out by Savills, the national newspaper named its most desirable villages based on a combination of highest house prices, best lifestyle amenities, connectivity and aesthetic appeal.
So, which is the West Midlands poshest village - and why?
Barston was the only West Midlands village on the list. With average house prices of £615,549 it has been rated for its good transport links, rural feeling and being bordered by the River Blythe.

The newspaper says: “Bordered by the River Blythe, Barston feels rural yet it has a quick access to transport networks. It’s a five-minute drive to the M42, and the train to Birmingham runs from the neighbouring village of Dorridge.

“An HS2 interchange station is being built to the north of Barston to provide Solihull, Birmingham Airport and the NEC with a fast service to London.”
The rankings were originally published in March 2024 - but the Telegraph re-shared the list on Monday (March 10) in the daily newsletter.
