Councils around the country usually make changes to bin collection over bank holidays. With the coronation this weekend, bank holiday Monday means that some counties might experience changes in bin collection schedules – but what about in Birmingham?

The three-day bank holiday weekend is in celebration of the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla. People up and down the country – including in Birmingham – will be celebrating the coronation with street parties and other events.

The celebrations mean that there will be more waste than usual, so what does this mean when considering bin collections? With the three-day bank holiday, people across the country can expect their bin collections to take longer than usual in some areas.

Bin collection in Birmingham

While some areas might experience changes in their bin collection schedule, Birmingham City Council has confirmed there are no changes to their service over the coronation weekend.

Bin collection will take place after 5.30am and the Council asks residents not to put bins out any earlier than 3.30pm the day before collection. Bins should be placed in front of your property or at a designated collection point if applicable.

Your bin should be returned to your property by midday the day after collection. For example, if your collection is on a Wednesday, the bin must be back on your property by midday on Thursday.
