In the West Midlands, motorists encounter some of the UK's highest toll charges, with the region featuring the top three most expensive toll roads. The M6 Toll, used by 50,000 drivers daily, holds the top 3 spots, with fees of £9.70 for three zones, £8.00 for two zones, and £6.20 for one zone. HGVs and coaches also face increased charges based on the zones they travel through. Payments can be made in cash, by card, or via an automated M6 Toll tag for seamless transactions.

The Mersey Tunnels ranks fourth, charging £4.20 per crossing. This toll road connects Liverpool and Wirral in Merseyside and is used by 90,000 motorists every day. Unlike the M6 Toll, the Mersey Tunnels require payment in cash or by card at the toll booths.

The Tamar Bridge in Plymouth is the UK's fifth most expensive toll, charging £2.60. The Tamar Bridge, a suspension bridge linking Plymouth to Cornwall, only applies the toll for eastbound travel into Devon, with the fee reduced for those using the electronic TamarTag scheme.
