Love Island: which of the previous contestants on the ITV2 dating show were from Birmingham?

With the winter edition of Love Island set to hit our screens, we’ve got plenty to look forward to including the lavish Cape Town villa and a fresh, new host.

The last summer edition of the ITV2 reality series, saw actress Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and business owner, Davide Sanclimenti crowned winners. This upcoming series will mark the return of the winter edition, which was previously cancelled as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

The show has been hosted by Laura Whitmore for the last three series, but now we will see presenter, Maya Jama, 28, from Bristol, take the reins as the new host. She will be joining a fresh group of singletons as they take on challenges and make their re-coupling choices.

As a new group of singles from across the UK are being announced as contestants, we take a look back at those from Birmingham who entered the famous Love Island villa:

Daisy Muller (series one)  

Daisy Muller, now 32, was a model when she entered the villa in Santanyí, Majorca, in series one - back in 2015.

She entered the Spanish villa on day seven and coupled up with Jordan Ring, but on day 19 she was dumped from the villa - after all the boys, including Jordan, voted for her to leave.

Since leaving the show, she has moved away from Reality TV and become a vegan food influencer on Instagram.

Alex Bowen (series two) 

Alex Bowen, now 31, was a scaffolder when he entered the lavish Majorca villa during the second series of Love Island.

Alex entered the villa on day 18, and coupled up with Olivia Buckland for the duration of the show. They eventually finished in second place, with Cara De La Hoyde and Nathan Massey winning the series. The couple are definitely a Love Island success story, as they got engaged in 2017 and married the following year, they also welcomed their first child, a son, in June 2022.

Tyne-Lexy Clarson (series three)

Tyne-Lexy Clarson, now 24, was a student when she joined the third series of Love Island, she appeared alongside the likes of Olivia Attwood, Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies.

She entered the villa on day seven and after a week of getting to know the boys, she was left single after re-coupling, and was dumped from the villa. Since appearing on the ITV2 show, Tyne-Lexy has gone on to work as a Sky Sports presenter and a reporter on BBC Radio Stoke. She has also worked as an actress and appeared in British gangster flick The Last Heist.

Josh Mair (series four)

Josh Mair, now 26, was a DJ and fitness model when he first entered the villa in the fourth series of Love Island.

After entering the villa on day 43, Josh coupled up with Stephanie Lam, but this was short-lived as they were dumped on day 50. Following his stint on Love Island, he went back to bodybuilding and modelling, as well as continued his DJ career.

Idris Virgo (series four)

Idris Virgo, now 29, was a professional boxer before he entered the Majorca villa for the fourth series of Love Island.

Idris entered the villa on day 37 and went on a date with already coupled-up Laura Anderson. He caused drama by telling her that her partner had kissed another girl. After four short days he was dumped from the villa.

After the stint on the show, Idris stepped away from reality TV and returned to his successful boxing career, which he posts about regularly to almost 200,000 Instagram followers.

Liberty Poole (series seven)

Liberty Poole, now 23, was a student when she joined the seventh series of Love Island, which was the second to be hosted by Laura Whitmore.

She entered the villa as part of the starting line-up and coupled up with Jake Cornish for the duration of the show. They ended up separating four days before the final, and both voluntarily left the villa.

Since leaving the show, like many others Liberty turned to a career as an influencer and has worked with a number of brands including In The Style and Boux Avenue.
