Striker dilemma & defensive toss-up - Wolves predicted starting XI gallery v Nottingham Forest

Here’s how we predict Wolverhampton Wanderers’ starting lineup to look against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup quarter-final.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are back in action just four days after their last outing as they take on Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup quarter-final on Wednesday evening. Wolves head into the game with plenty of confidence after they impressed at Liverpool on the weekend with a positive display in the FA Cup Third Round.

The Wanderers were unfortunate not to win at Anfield as a VAR mishap ultimately cost them a famovictory. Supporters and pundits alike were furious when Toti Gomes’ late goal was ruled out for offside, especially when it became apparent that there was no conclusive footage available to allow for an overturned decision.

Julen Lopetegui’s side are still not happy with that particular refereeing decision but they will have to move on sharpish as another challenge awaits. Wednesday’s opposition Forest have been a real mixed bag this season as they have struggled to adjust to over a dozen new faces through the door in Nottingham.

Steve Cooper’s side have added lots of squad depth but so much so that things have perhaps fallen out of their favour. Plenty of big-money signings have been wasting away on the sidelines as Forest have been unable to get them to gel just yet. The former European Cup winners are sitting narrowly above the Premier League relegation zone as it stands, three points above Wolves.

Both teams have huge matches to contend with in the English top tier on the weekend but for now the focus is on the Carabao Cup. With the clash fast approaching, here is a look at how we think Wolves’ starting XI will look at the Forest Ground. See below.
