Birmingham and the wider West Midlands area are full of beautiful spots for locals and visitors to enjoy. However, this hasn’t stopped some areas of the region being shortlisted for being the worst places to live in England.

Website ILiveHere asked readers to submit options at the end of 2022 for the worst place to live for the year ahead. The shortlist can now be voted on and there are options for a number of towns and cities in the West Midlands.

Birmingham is on the list, having been submitted by a reader of the site before the turn of the year. If you think you live in the worst place in the country, you can cast your vote via the ILiveHere website.

The neighbouring city of Wolverhampton is also in the running to pick up the unenviable title. Dudley, the market town lying just north west of Birmingham, is among the options in the area.

Walsall is yet another West Midlands location which can be voted on as the worst place in England to live this year. Slightly further afield, Coventry has not escaped the remorseless poll - it too is on the shortlist.

The winner of the 2022 unofficial title was Ayelesbury. The Buckinghamshire town topped the list, announced in January 2022, and is also a current contender on the 2023 vote.
