Wolverhampton autistic filmmaker's joy after gaining recognition at film festival
Wolverhampton film maker Sib Ali is gaining acclaim at Birmingham Film Festival once again!
An autistic film maker from Birmingham has shared his joy as documentary gains recognition at city’s film festival.
Sib Ali, 36, who resides in Wolverhampton, has struggled to form bonds and relationships with people throughout his life – a difficulty many other autistic people can relate to.
But he refuses to let it hold him back when it comes to chasing his dreams of becoming a filmmaker.

In 2024, he was featured at the Birmingham Film Festival for his short documentary about making friends as an autistic person.
But this year, he is gaining acclaim again for a part two to the project, which explores relationships and dating, titled Outreach: Navigating Relationships.
The new film, which will be screened at the event in Millennium Point, Curzon Street on November 7, has been selected as a nominee for Best Documentary - and Sib is elated with the news.
Speaking to the Express & Star, Sib said: “My latest film is called Outreach: Navigating Relationships which follows on from my last film but this time, I’m covering how people with autism navigate relationships and dating which will change the way we see relationships for autistic people.

“I’m feeling great that two film festivals have accepted my film as well as the fact that my latest film is also receiving some international recognition for the first time in my life.
“It’s really awesome. Achieving recognition from my friends in the film community as well as the wider world is really awesome.”
Being a nominee in the category also means that Sib is eligible for the Audience Vote Award.
Winners of the awards will be announced at a special ceremony on November 14.
