Witnesses sought after young girl killed after being hit by car at zebra crossing in Tyseley

Police are appealing for witnesses after a young girl was killed after she was hit by car at a zebra crossing in Tyseley.
A 24-year-old man has been arrested following the incident on Reddings Lane.

Hide AdThe girl was rushed to hospital but sadly died of her injuries. It is understood she was using the zebra crossing when she was hit by a silver Ford Galaxy just before 2.40pm on 11 November.
The driver of the car allegedly failed to stop at the crossing but a 24-year-old man has now been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after locating his vehicle in the area.
The girl’s family were with her at the time of the tragedy.
Acting Inspector Paul Hughes, from the West Midlands Police serious collision investigation unit, said: “The tragic death of such a young child is deeply saddening. Our thoughts are with the girl’s family at this incredibly distressing time.
“Our priority is supporting her family and ensuring that a thorough investigation is carried out.

“I’m keen to hear from anyone who was on Reddings Lane or the immediate vicinity and may have witnessed the collision or heard anything that may assist our investigation.”
