Birmingham has been undergoing a radical transformation over recent years - from tram tacks to skyscrapers city folk have had to re-learn how to navigate the city centre as if they were a tourist!
New buildings and infrastructure are continuing to pop up all over the place at a pretty fast rate. There’s a lot to love, but most agree that there are things that could be made better too.

Kemi says: “What I would change to make living here better? This is something that’s a national concern but more social housing and affordable housing. I find that a lot of people that I know and grew up within inner city Birmingham have been pushed out of Birmingham because they’ve been outpriced. So more affordable housing.”
Pawel says: “I mean, the only thing I’d probably change is like, there’s so much work at the moment in town. I drove my car in today. To drive around town at the moment is difficult because so many roads are blocked.
“Yeah, that’s the only thing that is bothering me about this. I’m happy living in Birmingham, to be honest with you though.”

“When I was younger I used to slag it off and say ‘I’ve had enough of Birmingham! I want to move out of Birmingham!’ But to be honest, it has grown on me now. There are worse places to live.”
Angie says: “I think it would be nice to see some more new shops appear since a lot of the good shops closed down in lock down. To see some little small industry local shops opening up in the city centre to create a bit more of an interest and something new to look at.”
Jess says: “I think that it’d be great to have more parks, like, in the centre of town, it would be really awesome for families and have that green space for kids to just run.”
