West Midlands supplier of Pukka Pies goes into liquidation after almost 40 years
UK food distributor G.M. Jones and Sons, which has operated since 1989 primarily serving the West Midlands, has entered into liquidation.
A West Midlands supplier of much-loved Pukka Pies has entered liquidation after almost 40 years in business.
G.M. Jones and Sons, which has operated since 1989, entered into liquidation today (April 23) with Timothy Frank Corfield of Griffin & King appointed as its liquidator.
Liquidation is a legal process where business is shut down and often includes selling business assets to generate cash which will be used to pay creditors and shareholders.

The company supplies mainly to the Fast Food industry in the West Midlands, Staffordshire and Shropshire areas.
Its website states: “We are one of a handful of companies that sell Pukka Pies products, in fresh, frozen and unbaked form.”
The food distributor previously reported sales growth year on year, according to reports.
Customers have been reassured that Pukka themselves are going to remain available as the liquidation is affecting the distributor not the pie company.
Isaac Fisher, CEO at Pukka: “GM Jones are one of many suppliers of Pukka Pies. We want to reassure customers that there is no impact on the availability of Pukka products. Supply remains strong nationwide through our established network of wholesalers.
“As one of our valued wholesale partners for many years, it’s sad to see them – particularly a fellow family-run company – face challenges in today’s competitive market.
“We’ve worked closely with customers to help them transition smoothly to alternative suppliers so people across the UK can continue to enjoy Pukka products as usual.”
