West Midlands Police has charged a man with assaulting two police officers in Birmingham

A man has been charged with assaulting police officers after an incident in Birmingham.

West Midlands Police said that Tariq Zeb has been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm and one count of assault causing actual bodily harm. The 52 year-old was charged following an incident at an address in Springfield on 19 November in which two officers were assaulted.

One officer received a slash wound to his face caused by a knife, and another officer was punched. Both were taken to hospital and following treatment have since been discharged. 

Zeb was remanded in custody to appear before magistrates in Birmingham today (Tuesday, November 21).
