West Midlands city named 'third kindest city in the UK' - here's where
People in Wolverhampton submitted an impressive 11,124 nominations for charities and good causes crowning them third kindest City.
Wolverhampton has been crowned the UK’s third Kindest City, with residents submitting a huge number of charity nominations.
The ranking is according to the Benefact Group’s movement for good awards which is an annual programme that encourages the public to nominate charities close to their hearts for funding.
Between January and September 2026, people in Wolverhampton submitted an impressive 11,124 nominations for charities and good causes and the Benefact Group has donated more than £250 million to charities and good causes across the UK and Ireland.

Chris Pitt, Group Impact Director of the Benefact Group, said: “It’s always inspiring to see people champion the charities and causes that mean the most to them. We’re especially grateful to the people of Wolverhampton for taking the time to submit their nominations throughout the year.
“Every nomination represents a vote of confidence in the role of charities, allowing them to provide vital support in order to make a difference in their communities.”
Above Wolverhampton in the top 10 were Norwich and Milton Keynes, however below sat Plymouth, Swindon, Newcastle upon Tyne, Luton, Bath, Cardiff and Birkenhead.
“The public response to the Movement for Good Awards was once again extraordinary this year. What began as a way to support the causes that matter most to people has grown into a nationwide force for good across the nation,” Chris added.
“Each nomination reflects the generosity and compassion of the person making it, helping more charities access the funding they need.”
