Hopsital order for man who stabbed victim in a cafe in Handsworth

A man has received a hospital order after attempting to murder a 21 year old man in an unprovoked attack. Usman Jan walked in a cafe in Handsworth and stabbed the man in the neck. Jan was found guilty of attempted murder and sentenced to an indefinite hospital order.

West Midlands Ambulance Service raises risk status

West Midlands Ambulance Service’s Trust Board has elevated the risk status of ‘call stacking’ to the most severe status. The report says that hospital handover delays were leading to patients being put at risk of “catastrophic harm”. This pressure has lead to ambulances spending 16,000 hours waiting outside hospitals during September alone.

Handsworth woman on trial for murdering her three year old son

A woman accused of murdering her three year old son has blamed ‘boisterousness’ for the severe abdominal wounds which lead to the boys death. Alicia Watson of Handsworth is on trial alongside Nathaniel Pope for the Murder of Kemarni Watson-Derby in 2018.
