West Midlands Ambulance Service Paramedic reaches final of Miss England in Birmingham

A West Midlands Ambulance Service Paramedic has made it through to the final of Miss England 2022 in Birmingham.

Alice Jones, who holds the Miss Black Country title, will join 30 other contestants today and Monday in the final of the national tournament.

The competition is being held in the Holiday Inn at Birmingham Airport. Contestants have already taken part in numerous rounds including a sports round, talent show, hair styling, beach beauty and a bare-faced round – which involved the contestants appearing in a catwalk show with no makeup.

West Midlands Ambulance Service has congratulated Alice on social media for reaching the final.

In a post, the service said: “We’re incredibly proud of Willenhall Paramedic Alice Jones who is a Miss England finalist! She will be joining the 30 other contestants in Birmingham today and Monday to find out who will be crowned the winner.”

As part of her talent entry, Alice produced an awareness video on the importance of CPR and defibrillation that was also shared by the West Midlands Ambulance Service.

Alice said: “Being a paramedic I’ve been to a few cardiac arrests and there just hasn’t been the public help that there should have been. With the ambulance service attending roughly 68,000 cardiac arrests in a year, only ever half of them have resuscitation attempts by a bystander. It has been proven that early CPR and early defibrillation by an AED can help to save lives.”
