Lancashire Police are investigating a video which has been circulating on social media appearing to show a man making threatening gestures during the Blackburn Rovers v West Brom game on Saturday (August 5).

The video shared on Twitter appears to show a supporter in the West Brom away end threatening a rival fan in the home section at Ewood Park. The incident took place during Blackburn’s 2-1 win over West Brom during the first game of the new Championship season on Saturday.

A statement from Lancashire Police, read: “We are aware of a video circulating social media appearing to show a man making threatening gestures, at Blackburn Rovers vs West Brom on Saturday 5 August. An individual has been identified and will be spoken to in due course.”

A West Bromwich Albion man, said: “We are aware of video footage published on social media following the club’s EFL Championship fixture at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday. The membership of the supporter involved will be suspended while we assist Lancashire Police with their ongoing investigation, and a further club sanction will be considered once the matter has reached a legal conclusion.”
