News website BirminghamWorld has launched to bring a fresh voice to news, entertainment and sport in the second city.

The website is produced by national regional and local multimedia group JPI Media which owns titles across the country.

A sister website to World launches in Manchester, Liverpool, London and Glasgow, BirminghamWorld is set to report on issues affecting city life and produce content to help make better futures for everyone.

Editor Fionnuala Bourke was born and brought up in Birmingham and has worked as a journalist in the city for more than 20 years.

She said: “We’re so excited to launch this new website in Birmingham - bringing a fresh voice to news, entertainment and football.

“With the Commonwealth Games on the way, exciting developments transforming the city skyline and the youngest population in Europe - there’s a lot to celebrate.

“We want to shine a light on matters affecting city life as well - including the quality of our air, business survival rates and inequalities in health and education.

“What’s on news is important to us too - we’ll be bringing you reports on the latest restaurants, theatre shows, concerts, festivals, sports events and more.

“We’ll be keeping you up-to-date on the football as well. From wins to losses, transfers and speculation - check out Birmingham World to find out what’s happening with your club.

The team includes video journalist Nick Dee who has been reporting on news across the city for more than five years.

Ben Ramsdale is covering football and Joe Forte is on the news team.
