Police react as Wednesbury nightclub’s licence is revoked following ‘serious disorder’

A bar in Wednesbury has been shut down due to its links with ‘serious disorder’.

The premises licence for MJs Bar on Bridge Street has been revoked after police asked for a full review by Sandwell Council.

The licence had been temporarily suspended after a man sustained serious injuries following an incident on 13 August. He was later dropped off at Walsall Manor Hospital.

The bar’s licence has now been revoked on the grounds that the Prevention of Crime and Disorder Licencing objective was being undermined. A decision notice will be issued to the bar in the coming days and they have the right of appeal to the Magistrates Court within 21 days of their receipt of the letter.

Superintendent Lisa-Jayne Robson, from Sandwell Local Policing Area, said: "Our number one priority is public safety and we will not tolerate venues that attract crime.
