With the Met Office reporting one of the coldest winters, and snow on the way, there is one question that comes to everyone’s mind. Will we finally get snow on Christmas?

As it stands bookies don’t have high hopes for a White Christmas in Birmingham, this comes after Met Office weather forecasting snow for parts of the United Kingdom for November.

Bookmakers, Paddy Power and William Hill are both offering odds of 4/1 that snow will fall in Birmingham on Christmas Day.

The idea of a picturesque white Christmas in Birmingham is what most local people dream of when they imagine their ideal day, but it is a rare occurrence.

In fact, the Met Office says, on average, snow and sleet falls for 3.9 days in December however that increases to 5.3 days in January, 5.6 days in February and 4.2 days in March.

The changing of the climate through the heating up of the planet has also reduced the likelihood of white Christmases in Birmingham and the rest of the United Kingdom.

The most recent wide spread white Christmas was in 2010 and the four before that were in 1981, 1995, 2009 and 2010.

In past years, some cities might have seen snow while others did not however in 2018 and 2019 no snow was recorded at any of the UK’s weather stations.
