Met Office warning issued for Birmingham as temperatures set to drop close to zero- full forecast

Further icy cold temperatures and a small chance of snow have been forecasted for Birmingham this week. This comes as a yellow Met Office weather warning for ice came to an end this morning.

The forecaster issued the warning for snow and ice with the ‘feels like’ temperature set to drop to around -3C. The warning was in place from 9pm last night.

The Met Office has warned people set to be impacted by the warning of what to expect. This includes some roads and railways are likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services as well as the likelihood of icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

The warning has ended as of 10am today. However, there are still icy temperatures on the way for Birmingham.

West Midlands forecast

March 7

An icy start in places as a band of rain, sleet and snow clears southwards, Some bright or sunny spells developing but the risk of some further wintry showers throughout the afternoon. Feeling cold. Maximum temperature 6 °C.

Turning dry with clear skies developing this evening, allowing temperatures to quickly fall away leading to a widespread frost. Cloud however will increase across the south towards dawn. Minimum temperature -6 °C.

A frosty start with some early morning brightness in the north. Otherwise a largely dry, cold and cloudy day with the odd wintry flurry possible in the south. Maximum temperature 5 °C.

Bands of rain, sleet and snow, accompanied by strong winds will move in during Thursday, before gradually clearing Friday. Turning less cold by Saturday, with rain arriving later.
