The Met Office provides an update on the likelihood of witnessing the spectacular aurora borealis in Birmingham again this evening.

The nation was captivated by breath-taking images of the aurora borealis, with the spectacle visible across much of the UK.

Thanks to clear skies, people across the Midlands enjoyed a rare opportunity to witness the lights, which the Met Office described as providing a "decent chance of visibility”.

Auroras occur when charged solar particles interact with Earth's magnetic field, colliding with atmospheric gases to produce the stunning light displays near the poles. These solar interactions create colourful streaks that light up the sky.

However, conditions are less favourable compared to the previous evening.
