A recent study placed Birmingham as one of the friendliest places in the UK. Taking into account small acts of kindness such as opening doors for strangers and saying good morning to passersby, Brummies are shown to be quite a welcoming bunch.

We hit the streets of Birmingham to see if Brummies agree. You can hear everyone’s comments in the video above. We’ve included a couple below as well. Let us know what you think.

Frances says: “Well, without prompting, I’ll tell you that I think Birmingham’s absolutely brilliant. I think it’s the top friendliest places of the places I know.

“I’ve lived in different places. I’ve come from the south, you can hear from London area. I’ve got relations in other parts of the country, there is nothing to beat the interracial friendliness of Birmingham.

“The Unity - the love between peoples - is amazing. I lived in Birmingham a long time now with a bit of a break, but 40 years plus.”

“The egalitarianism of Birmingham - there’s no top people really in Birmingham and there’s no bottom people in Birmingham. It’s a community of promise. It’s a wonderful place.“

Emma says: “I personally think Birmingham - if you’re from Birmingham - is a really friendly city because like everyone knows everyone. Sort of even South or North like everyone’s just like friends. It’s a great place to be.”
