Sub zero temperatures as low as -4°C on the way to Birmingham in latest Met Office weather update

The latest weather updates from the Met Office suggest that Birmingham is in for more extreme winter weather this coming week.

Temperatures are set to plummet to below zero, with long clear periods leaving room for widespread frost to hit the region.

We will be following the latest updates issued from the Met Office and breaking them down as the story develops.

Tonight

Tonight will be mostly dry with long clear periods and light winds. This will make way for widespread frost which is likely to develop across the region.

Some areas will see fog patches. Temperatures are set to drop as low as -4 °C

Thursday

Thursday morning will see the carry on of widespread frost and fog in some areas. Which will clear slowly.

As the fog clears the weather looks to be settled with some sunshine developing in some areas.

Temperatures are forecast to hit highs of 9°C.

Friday to Sunday

The high pressure will continue to encourage dry weather with some bright spells breaking through in this period.

Overnight on Friday however, frost will develop, as well as fog and low cloud in most places. This will be stubborn to clear in places.

As we move into next week the weather will be more settled and make way for more sunny spells with the fog and mist clearing.

Temperatures on the whole will be average for this time of year across the UK.

As we move further into this period the weather will become increasingly unsettled with some winds, frost and fog picking up.

The possibility of low pressure in eastern areas will bring winds and cold wintry showers.

Temperatures are expected to be above average for this time of year in northern areas, while southern areas will remain normal with the potential for short cold spells.
